Smallbore

The Lincoln County Smallbore League (formerly the “Old” Bath Club) is one of four teams that constitute what remains of the Alden Gayton Rifle League. The other League teams are from: Cumberland, Auburn and Poland. The Gayton League was originally sponsored by the American Legion and was named in honor of Alden Gayton the first soldier from the Lewiston /Auburn area killed in World War I.

The League sponsors Thursday night .22 caliber rifle matches during the winter months that rotate between the Lincoln County Rifle Club, the Auburn Rifle Club and the Cumberland Rifle & Pistol Club. The Thursday evening winter matches consist of one prone A-17 target shot in 12 minutes and two offhand A-17 targets shot in 24-minute relays. In addition to these winter matches, the League also participates in three-position and four-position NRA-sanctioned state shoots. The Lincoln County smallbore shooters have equipment available that interested LCRC members can use to get started with the league. All are welcome: from junior shooters serious about improving their skills to skilled shooters who enjoy a little friendly competition.

Practices for the Lincoln County Smallbore League take place on Monday nights while the winter match schedule is underway. For more information, contact
